Recommended Hardware
Acquire players and Signage2Go! players have extremely flexible operating requirements. Both can be configured to play on very low powered systems, or they can be used with very high end systems with RAID arrays, Quad output HD Graphics and more.
To be as flexible as possible with the features and to utilise the latest technologies, the Acquire players, Signage2Go! players and Acquire Editors all need to operate on a Windows platform. (Note that we recommend the use of Windows XP Embedded or Windows7 Embedded for cost savings and easier support). The minimum specification we advise is as follows (increase these if you are using many plug-ins, HD content, multiple screens, etc):
- OS: Windows XP (Home/Pro), Windows XP Embedded, Windows Vista (all variants but would advise using Windows 7), Windows 7 (All variants), Windows 7 Embedded
CPU: AMD Geode / Intel Atom CPUs (Minimum) Intel Core2Duo or I3 (Recommended) – note that faster CPUs will be more responsive in interactivity and will be capable of playing Adobe Flash content smoother.
RAM: OS minimum + 256MB (typically 1GB)
HD: OS minimum + 1GB + space for media (minimum 8GB, typically 50GB+) - Note that all media is stored on the player and will remain until new content has been downloaded and the old media removed during a deployment so enough space is required to hold enough content.
Graphics: 640x480 16bit (Min) HD capable chipset with video decoding (MPEG2, DivX) support e.g. Nvidia ION (Recommended)
Network: Any TCP/IP network connection including 3G/GPRS/EDGE, 10/100/1000 LAN, Wifi, etc..
We obviously cannot specify exact hardware unless we have tested it in specific configurations, however we can recommend hardware that we and our resellers have used and have found to work successfully in real life situations. These can be found on the 3rd Party Solutions page here.
