PRODUCTS - ACQUIRE PLAYER

The Acquire Playeris available as a software-only solution, or pre-installed and configured on our recommended hardware, ready to be installed.

"...Our engine is designed specifically to playback high resolution multimedia..."

If you choose to use your own hardware,  and you are not technically-minded, we strongly advise that you send us the hardware first so that it can be tested for long-term use, then we can install all the latest drivers and patches before installing the Acquire player software for you and returning it. Alternatively, purchase our Acquire Player hardware solution which has all this done for you in a very small form-factor unit which can easily be mounted behind the screen or on a wall.

The Player is the engine inside Acquire – it is probably the most powerful display technology in the Digital Signage and Interactive Kiosk arena to date. Originally developed in 2001, the same technology is used to run many of our custom solutions, and even our popular Cyberbrowser product.

"...developed over 8 years..."

Our engine is designed specifically to playback high resolution, high bandwidth multimedia content (often called Rich Media) – videos, Flash animations and full screen graphics which make your presentations far more exciting than ever before. Whether using Acquire for Digital Signage or Interactive Kiosks (or a combination of both), Acquire provides the stable platform to display the right message, at the right time, using your exciting content.
Many competing products may have physical limitations to the way they playback, due to the technology they are based upon. Some systems use what are known as ‘ActiveX controls’ within a web browser – the same things you use to watch movie trailers or YouTube™ and their templates are no more than web pages, but these were never designed for playback from a local machine, and often do not start straight away (they still buffer the video as if they were downloading it from the internet), and can sometimes not play anything at all. Other systems we have seen are a little more advanced with their templates actually making an Adobe Flash™ animation from your content. Although this is a neat way of wrapping up your playback, Flash can require massive amounts of CPU time, and is still using a 3rd party device which is being ‘asked’ to playback your content, without a 100% guarantee that it will playback as you intended.

"...the right message at the right time..."

Our Acquire player technology has been developed over 8 years to be optimised to give the best playback possible on a variety of hardware platforms from the slowest 500Mhz systems to multi-screen videowalls with full 1080pHD playback.

Acquire Player at a glance

Up to 1024 separate elements per page (combine content from different sources with complete freedom)
Included high quality codecs for up to 1080p playback of video (unlike some of our competitors who expect you to download these from dubious sources)
Scheduled playlists and/or interactive playback
Full Support for Adobe™ Flash, with integration and custom controls for Actionscript.
Integrated lockdown security and telemetry monitoring system to prevent malicious damage and provide a live report of player statistics.
Collect and display External sources (XML, WWW/FTP, HTML, RSS)
Controlled playback via external triggers (Keyboard, Serial, TCP/IP) and options for GPS position, weather, EPOS, sensors, barcode scanner and more.
Can run 2 copies on a single machine with Synch pages (so that one acts as a slave to what is showing on the other – ideal for passive screens which can show related content to what is being shown on the interactive screen).
Multiple players at a site can be synchronised to playback the same content to within a few milliseconds of the other players, whilst still retaining autonomy so that they can also play their own content or become interactive too (see London Underground or i-vu for examples of where this can be used to great effect).
Different scripts (playlists) can be sent to remote players and using a simple controller they can choose to play different pages or even choose a different playlist to play from those you have created (see Travel TV to see how this could be used).
Options for local control of content with varying levels of control and access.
Built-in support for MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, DivX, H263, Quicktime, WMV, Animated GIF, JPEG, Powerpoint*1 ,TIF, PNG, BMP, WAV, MP3, ASX, WMA, HTML, XML, Adobe Flash™, FLC, and more.

*1 Powerpoint playback requires either the Powerpoint presentation to be saved as individual JPEGs, converted using one of the easily available Powerpoint>Video or Powerpoint>Flash converters. As with ANY digital signage application from ourselves or other parties, you require to have Powerpoint installed (available from www.microsoft.com) as it is not legally allowed to be redistributed by any 3rd parties (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189609) , but can be installed by the end user onto the player unit, after which Acquire will play any Powerpoint content.
